This is the Flannel Fossil Fern Quilt from the book. Sarah says it has a Picasso look to it, and after she said that, I agree! It has flannel fabric on the front and back and Warm & Natural batting....it's heavy!
This is a close up of a square in the quilt I made to do the step-by-step photos for the book. The fabrics are hand-dyes that I bought on ebay and as soon as I find the sellers info, I'll post a link to it. Everywhere that this quilt is shown people think that the fabric is suede!
This is the back of the hand dyed fabrics quilt shown above.
This is the back of Sarah's Bright Idea Quilt from the book, made from the Moda Brights fabrics. Click on this one, the photos just don't do the fabrics justice!
This is our friend Bria's Quilt - the photo was taken in very poor light, I hope to be able to borrow the quilt again for a better photo.
This is a close up of the Moda fabrics Bright Idea quilt from the book - it gets lots of attention wherever it goes!
This is a scan of a page from the book showing the Beautiful Batiks quilt - it's another stunner. I'm allowed to say that because my daughter made it! :) The fabrics were current in 2002 and they are just a random selection of 20 FQ of batiks that Sarah picked out.
I hope to have photos of the other quilts up soon, but for now, here's some more fabric information:
The Warm Chocolate Wrap quilt is made from new fabrics - the 'Autumn' colorway of Silence (Silent) Beauty by Quilt Gate Fabrics carried by Robert Kaufman.
The Greens Quilt and pillow is all from stash fabrics collected over many years, from a wide variety of fabric manufacturers.
The Blue and White quilt (Easy to Go Crazy) was a Fat Quarter bundle that I bought many years ago and the same is true for the Floral Queen Quilt except that the floral bundle was about 36 FQ - it's Rose and Hubble fabrics.
The table runner is made up from stash fabrics in the vegetable & hot pepper design, collected over a few years also, but that Sulky Lime Green thread is what makes it *hot*!
The Sweet 16 Quilt is made from new RJR Fabrics, the 'Sew You, Sew Fun II' line.
If you'd like to see what we are working on now, I post photos of quilts regularly on my blog, under the heading of "Quilts in the Works" here's a link...More Quilt Photos
If you have made a Crazy Shortcut Quilt and can send me a photo, regular or digital, I'd love to post it here or to the blog. email to quilters@crazyshortcuts.com Thanks, Marguerita
If you are unsure of how to photograph a quilt to its best advantage, I learned a lot from Holly Knott (click here) she's got some great info and links on her web page.
Here's a little slideshow of quilts from the book...
